This corner of Provence offers a wealth of activities: culture, nature, sport and not least, gastronomy.
Visit
local historic towns, like Gap and Sisteron, with pretty shops, lively
markets and excellent restaurants. Or go further afield to the famous
cities: Aix-en-Provence and Marseille can easily be visited in a day. But
do not forget to explore the little places just around the corner for some
memorable outings.
The geology around Turriers is outstanding. Marvel at rare rock formations, like the “Demoiselles coiffées”; and giant fossils in their natural surroundings (UNESCO Geoparc).
A
famous feature of the region is the Serre Ponçon Dam, the largest in
Europe. It provides a beautiful surface of blue water for swimming,
windsurfing and sailing; or for a sporty cycle ride round the perimeter. A
visitors’ centre explains the working of the dam. You can buy fossils,
crystals and other souvenirs from the local shop or from the café enjoy
light refreshments and splendid views! Other smaller lakes also offer safe
and beautiful surroundings for swimming.

this stylish city, or a plunge in the Med or enjoy a dish of bouillabaisse!
