Activitities
Turriers is an ideal base for year-round sporting and other activities. With over 300 perfectly sunny days a year, most of the time you can be out of doors (click Weather).
There are cultural festivals and events at all times of the year. You can enjoy local tradition or great international performances. Tourist offices in all the centres publish a full programme of events.
Start
in Le Maurier Botanical Garden for a study of alpine wildflowers and
butterflies. Straight
out of the village, you can go for an easy stroll or an arduous mountain
hike. There are prepared rock climbs (via ferrata) that even a beginner can
tackle. Cycling is a joy, on quiet mountain roads or forest tracks.
We
hire out mountain bikes for €20 a day or €75 per week.
At nearby Trois Lacs or Lac Serre Ponçon, enjoy swimming or windsurfing, hire a paddle boat with the family or have a go at one of the assault courses!

Go
white water rafting on the Ubaye or Durance rivers, or try a spot of
canoeing or canyoning. Experienced guides take you for a thrilling trip and
look after your safety.
Best of all, take to the air! In this region, the skies are nearly always clear and the visibility excellent. There are centres for gliding, paragliding and all flying sports.
Come
the winter, several major ski centres are within one hour’s drive. Or when
the snowstorm is over, just put your walking boots or snowshoes on, don’t
forget your camera, and enjoy the transformation!
